Herbal Apprenticeships
Offered through The Boston School of Herbal Studies
Level I - The herbal apprenticeship program offers students an experiential approach to learning the science of herbalism. Focus is placed on plant identification, medicinal plant use, plant medicine formulation, and application. A basic study of the human bodys digestive, neurological, immune, cardiovascular, muscularskeletal, and endocrine systems are covered along with an overview of the plants specific to the treatment of each of these systems. This is an intensive course that meets one weekend per month for seven months.
Level II - Building on the skills learned in the Level I Apprenticeship program, students are given a deeper knowledge of client diagnosistics and herbal medicine formulation. This program meets one weekend per month for eight months. It is designed for students who want to acquire a much deeper knowledge of how herbal medicine interacts with the bodys systems and/or who are considering herbalism as a profession. Completion of the Level I Apprenticeship program is a prerequisite to taking Level II.

Native Herbalism - Connecting to the Sacred Plant World
The Earth Mothers Sacred Plant World provides everything we will ever need for our health, nutrition, and general well being. The art and science of extracting plant medicine, tool making, and harvesting wild edibles has all been but lost to this culture. These native tribal ways are ancient, time tested, and wholly relevant for those who yearn to take charge of their personal well being in a natural and ecologically respectful way. In this two day interactive seminar students will learn to:
- Energetically connect with the sacred medicine of some of the most commonly used plants in traditional
- Native American culture.
- Identify these plants in the wild.
- Extract the medicinal, nutritional, and functional properties of the plants.
- Correctly harvest the plants.
- Practically apply the plants medicinal properties through tea, tincture, oil, and salve making.
- Take your next step on the path to true self reliance and personal health freedom.
Shamanic Plant Journeys
Experience how physical and spiritual energies of plants affect all levels of being. Participants meet the physical plant, experience the tincture and open to the energies of the flower essence. Through drumming and guided meditation we make contact with plant wisdom for our own personal healing, the healing of our families, communities and of the earth.
Herbal Clinic
The monthly Herbal Clinic is an opportunity for student herbalists to learn basic consultation, diagnosis, and herbal formulation skills. The clinic offers herbal services to people in the community who seek affordable, alternative health care.
